A week on from Lydd and we are at Bayford Meadows for the BMKR Summer Championship – Round 2.
Saturday practice went well. We were finding reasonable times out of the kart especially as we were on quite used slicks. Lots of new bits on the kart this weekend so it was feeling good.
Sundays race day was much tougher and wasn’t really going my way. I had a bad qualifying so started 12th and finished heat one in 12th. Heat two I got side swiped quite hard, breaking the kart so had to pull over and retire.
This meant I started the final last because of the retirement. I kept myself out of trouble and worked my way up to 6th before the race was red flagged due to an accident.
We had to wait an hour before we could restart. We started the race back in our original grid positions so started last and worked my way back up to 6th again before another accident and another red flag.
The strangest part of the weekend was the fact that the Motorsport UK officials were fed up with the on track behaviour of a few drivers so they stripped our whole category of points. How they think this is fair or acceptable I don’t know. They should punish the drivers that they think are at fault and let the rest of us who have been working hard all weekend do the best we can.
I’m pleased that I didn’t give up and kept at it this weekend. I have a couple of test sessions coming up before the next double header in three weeks time.
