Today I got to drive my new kart for the very first time. All the prepping was done and everything was ready so we headed down to Lydd International Circuit for an owners practice/testing day.
The circuit was damp but dry enough for slick tyres, but it wasn’t long before it got to wet so I pitted for wet tyres. It’s the first time I’ve driven with wets and they were instantly quicker and the grip was amazing.
The day went really well. As my confidence grew and I started to understand exactly how the kart reacts I got quicker and quicker. I will download the data later so I can see exactly what the progress was but the kart is so much faster than anything else I’ve ever driven.
I love it and want to thank everyone that has worked so hard to make this happen for me, especially my Dad. I’m looking forward to the next outing and can’t wait to start competing in it as soon as possible.
Before then it’s back to Brentwood for another championship race this Sunday.
