It’s our first race weekend back with our new kart (JHR-02) and Saturday testing couldn’t have gone much better. The first couple of sessions were ironing out any small set-up issues we had, getting the kart comfortable for the driver and making sure everything was running as it should. The weather was very hot and kart and driver were performing well.
On Sunday we qualified 5th which is a good start on a kart that needs wearing in. In the first race we lost so positions at the start and they were difficult to make back up. This put us lower on the grid that we hoped for the pre-final. In that race Jacob was still getting to grips with the kart, it’s different handling and breaking points and spent the race fighting with mid-field in wet conditions.
In the grand final we went out the best prepared we had been all day and determined to walk away with a good result. Jacob was feeling more at one with the kart and that really showed on track. He made up several placed in the first few laps and was pushing really hard. He finished the final in 5th position.
We walked away happy with our progress, it had been a weekend of leaning, set-up and testing of the new kart and we feel confident for the future. It’s a great starting point, and one which we plan to make faster and faster.
Now we wait until the final round at Lydd for the LIKC Summer Championship to see how we perform there.
