It’s been a busy month of karting so far. This is our 3rd weekend in a row camping out in a race track paddock. This time we are at Buckmore Park for the 24 hour endurance race.
Our team was made of eight owner-drivers who race at the BMKR championship so we called ourselves The Bayford Bandits.
This was our first time entering this event so there was a lot to learn as we complete against 25 different teams. Saturday qualifying and first stints started in the sunshine and as Saturday evening approached so did the rain. Sunday’s weather got even worse and the track was beginning to resemble a lake.
We qualified well in 7th and each took it in turns to do our 1.5 hour stints, of which we will do two, so 3 hours of driving each.
On my Sunday stint my lap times were getting quicker and quicker and there were many many times I was the quickest out on track… something I am really proud of as I have never raced at Buckmore before.
We finished 8th overall competing 1424 laps, 16 driver-change and refuel pitstops and 1 service stop.
It was a great event, got lots of coverage on the Alpha Live stream, which is streamed to over 3 million viewers and was interviewed live after my last stint.
I cannot wait for next years race.
