It’s been a busy week of karting, and this weekend is no different. We are down at Lydd International Kart Circuit for the start of the LIKC 2023 Summer Championship.
As its school holiday we went down a day early to get some testing in and the kart set-up nice and early. Friday and Saturday went well and we were the fastest Junior Rotax on track.
Sunday went well. We qualified on the front row in 2nd place, at the start of the first race we held our position and pushed hard to overtake the leader but just couldn’t quite manage it, so we finished heat one 2nd with fastest lap of the race.
Heat two, made another good start to hold on to my position, pushed hard throughout the race for the win and although making a move for first place on the last lap buy braking as late as I could, the leader got the undercut as I ran slightly wide, so finished race two in 2nd place.
The grand final was a repeat of the previous two races, made a good start, held on to my position and pushed hard. For some reason the kart was lacking rear grip and meant I had to change my breaking point, this was costing me time and in the end I got overtaken a few laps from the end, so I finished the final on the podium in 3rd. I also had joint fastest lap.
It was an enjoyable weekend of racing hard but fair.
